I love to golf and learned from a father who will be 90 years old the month of our 45th reunion (Sept. 1, 2013) and still tries to get to the country club to hit a ball. What a great example. |

After that graduation night with Teresa McCormack (she was so kind to share those events as my date) and the awful events of the Bobby Kennedy assassination, I decided to attend the University of Utah. I pledged with Sigma Chi fraternity and with the events of the world at the time, found the seriousness of the Vietnam era pressing heavily. I was fortunate to be chosen to serve an LDS (Mormon) Mission to the incredible country of Italy. It was like the old \"Brer Rabbit\" concept of \"oh please, don\'t throw me in that briar patch\"....How could they have known what they were doing by sending me to Italy. The cradle of culture, art, music and so much beauty. Oh yes, don\'t forget the food.....that\'s why I look like I do now. Nevertheless, I served and came home with the Vietnam conflict still raging. I was fortunate to marry the most beautiful girl from Olympus 1968 (I\'m not a traitor), who would become my all in all, Barbara Berg. She\'s been the stability in my past 41 years. After marriage, I was sent to basic training for the Utah National Guard. I was in the 144th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M.A.S.H.)as a senior stenographer (if you ever watched the movie/T.V. show, I was \'Radar\', really!). It was truly an experience, not unlike the screen version. I was assigned to the Adjutant General School in Indianapolis, Indiana and actually was on active duty training for 14 months. (Should have just gone active). Came home and became a \"Realtor\"....and that has been the story for 41 years. As you can imagine, the ride has been up and down, but full of life, teaching, learning and happiness. Along the way, I opened a restaurant in the Crossroads Mall when it first opened (now it is only a brief memory in a moment of time in the Salt Lake landscape). It was a salad bar restaurant called \"Lettuce Entertain You\" and got out of the restaurant business within two years. I was retained by a company in the \'80\'s to create a sales staff. Nytone Electronics was a professional photographic processing equipment company. I knew sales and enjoyed the relationship while still building and selling homes with Peterson Development. I left Peterson in the \'90\'s and created Olson & Company Real Estate which then become BUILDING DYNAMICS Realty, where I was until Dec 2008, when it all crashed. I survived and am the Principal Broker for a new creation called MediaOne Real Estate. As of this writing, I have 7 beautiful grandchildren, all close by, at least for now. I actually became an active participant in the LDS Church with the mission to Italy (believe it or not) and have remained so with various opportunities to participate. I kept the old Mosrite guitar from the PoorBoys days. I\'ve always played in some fashion and decided I should renew that most enjoyable pastime of \'rock \'n roll\'. I\'ve been playing and singing in a cover band, Auld\'sKool (www.auldskoolrocks.com) My wife has been the stability and salvation through all this. She has come to understand my intolerable A.D.H.D personality. Not sure she likes it, but tells me she loves me, Thank you Barbara. |

Things I have learned since 1968 . . .: I learn each morning. I learn that the life is an interesting ride each day. I don\'t know if I have any great perspective on life other than the truth of \"perspective\". Isn\'t it interesting how much we know now that we thought we knew then. Relationships are so important. Anger and fear are NOT good. We are not perfect, but we try again each morning don\'t we... |

Catch us up on your life . . . : After retiring in 2010, my wife of nearly 40 years, Mimi, and I have led a quiet and comfortable life. Our greatest joy has been the arrival of our grandchildren (Olivia 2012, Jaxson 2015 and yet-to-be-named baby girl 2018). The two youngest live/will live in Florida, so we travel a bit to stay in touch. Other interests include reading, gardening, and hobbies. | |

I'm hoping that someone, anyone, who was in concert choir and still has a recording of our '68 concerts will clue me in about how to get a copy (my album cracked). |

Cambridge, MA, has been my home since 1981. I got here via Cache Valley and Albuquerque. I married Drew ('66 student body pres of Bountiful H.S.,wild man, and Craig Parkin's cousin) in 1974. Drew's the greatest and I'm glad he's still around. He had an aortic aneurysm in 2006 and survived by a hair -- the day it happened I had to get home from West Virgina and if anyone is interested in possibly the all-time worst airport story, let me know. We have two unique kids, Rachel and John. Rachel, 23, started life as a reading prodigy (taught herself to read at 18 mos. and was reading books like the Lord of the Rings trilogy by age 5; we just watched, astounded). She graduated from George Washington Univ. in creative writing (poetry). During her junior year she enlisted in the Army Reserves, making it through boot camp and a year of duty before having a near-fatal car accident. Her boyfriend, a Marine, proposed to her while she was in intensive care, and last spring they were married in my mother's backyard in SLC. They live in NC, where he's stationed at Camp LeJeune and Rachel is a layout/copy editor and the book/movie reviewer for the Jacksonville Daily News. Our son, John, 20, is the best communicator and most poised person I've ever known, despite multiple disabilities; he can't talk or read and has had over 20 operations in order to stay marginally ambulatory. Our plan is to return to Utah after retirement so that John can be near his extended family. Meanwhile, he goes to high school in Cambridge and enjoys adaptive skiing and sailing, and he's traveled the world with us (even camping in the Arctic!). Other current members of our household include a hamster named Twitchy and a disabled cattle dog from Utah; Toby uses a wheelchair and we take a daily walk at a nearby pond. Although we moved to Cambridge for my job rather than school, Drew did his graduate work at MIT and I spent a year studying conservation biology at Harvard. Drew works on river and forest conservation issues, and I work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect all sorts of endangered critters, from isopods to shrews to louseworts to lynxes. I'm currently working on wolf recovery with a nationwide team, advising marine biologists about coral recovery in the Caribbean, and teaching at the National Conservation Training Center. The government has generously allowed me to work out of my home most of the time, so I'm able to balance work and family. I started running marathons at age 50 and have run 11 since. We spend a lot of time on the water, and I get to the mountains and deserts as often as possible. OK. That's more than enough. I've enjoyed the profiles of all those who've contributed to this site, and I look forward to the upcoming alignment of past and present! |

I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in finance. I went to law school at BYU where I was a member of the charter class. I must mention at this point that I was one of only two non-members in my graduating class. I was admitted to the Utah Bar in 1976 and I have spent my entire career working in the real estate business in Salt Lake City. I was a member of the 19th Special Forces for ten years. I joined the guard during my first year in college to avoid the draft and then drew number 321 in the lottery two years later. I have been married to the same lovely lady for 40 years and we have one daughter who is a nurse at Primary Children's Hospital. I've had the great good fortune to enjoy a few adventures along the way. I raced moto cross and I've raced bicycles. I've been trekking in Nepal. I've been canoing in the Boundary Waters. I've hiked the length of the Wind River Mountains. I've snorkled in Tahiti and been attacked by chiggers in Costa Rica. I'd like to think that who I am has more to do with the adventures and my relationships with my wife, family and friends than it has to do with what I did to make money. |

Things I have learned since 1968 . . .: I have learned that my greatest possessions are my memories. Memories of my marriage, the births of my daughter and my grandson, the voices and laughter of my friends and family and memories of the places I've been and the things that I've seen. |
