Hey all!  I'm so glad we have these reunions every 10 years to catch up and re-connect.  I've been married and divorced 3 times.  YIKES!  The picture is of Michael and me on the front porch of the home we have shared for the past 2 1/2 years.  He will be with me at the reunion.
I have 2 children.  Greta is 29 and lives in California with her sweetheart and his son.  She has her MFA, and works as a Lighting and Technical Designer for a local theater.  Bo is 26 and lives in Denver with his sweetheart and her daughter.  Bo just started school to become a pharmacist after serving 5 years in the Navy.
I work as a banker in Salt Lake following retirement from my 30-year career with Salt Lake County.  We enjoy our farm/home with a goat, a dog, and 2 cats.  Mike and I travel as much as possible.
Can;t wait to see you all!

Nannette Hansen (Pederson)

Marital status: Married
Children: 6
Occupation: Co owner/PreschoolTeacher
Teacher who influenced me the most . . . : Mr. Dente (Drama) He helped me develop confidence by humiliating and embarrassing me. He forced me out of my comfort zone and increased my vocabulary by asking me to be more "seductive" - I had to look that up in Webster's!
Occupations you have had: Teacher Cottonwood High, Preschool teacher 10 years
Catch us up on your life . . . : After two years of teaching at Cottonwood High School, I married a terrific guy, Dave Hansen (Bountiful High \'68)and sweethearts for 39 years! Our first son was born near the end of my next year of teaching and I\'ve been fortunate to have been able to make \"mothering\" my primary job for the last 32 years..yikes 32?!

I\'ve been crazy enough to have served as both an Elementary and High School PTA president, Co-Chairperson with my husband for the Bountiful Handcart Days (5 years) and numerous other church and community positions.

I\'ve been blessed to have been available as a caregiver to both my parents and have felt the void after saying \"goodbye\" to them both. I\'ve experienced the joy of being loved by a devoted husband and the love laughter and yes, tears that come from sharing life with six wonderful children. (My drama skills have been particularly helpful-I\'ve used them to take on \"roles\" so I could \"pretend\" I knew what I was doing.)
Things I have learned since 1968 . . .: Children\'s umbilical cords are eventually cut and replaced with bungie cords...

I feel the same age \"inside\" as I did in 1968...my body does not feel (or look) the same age as it did in 1968.

God planned for our \"near\" vision to diminish as we get older so we can still be brave enough to look into a mirror every morning.

You can choose happiness.

Life is most beautiful when you share it and most satisfying when who serve in it.

Good friends can survive the \"pause button\" when life happens to separate you...the button goes back to \"play\" when you step back into each other\'s lives - almost where you left off! Right Tag? You have the most growth through trials. Life is wonderful and goes on even during and after cancer.

Comment: Dear Class, It has been so fun to catch up on where and what everyone is doing.  I haven't thought of High School for sooo long.  I guess life just has a habit of moving on.  My best to everyone, not sure if we can make it to any festivities, but will try... Grandchildren take presidence in our lives now, and they are envolved in "Little Wrangler Rodeo"  both days of the reunion.
Teacher who influenced me the most . . . : Bonnie Bates Coop, Mrs. Smiley
Occupations you have had: retail sales, and management, banking, medical office manager for Pediatrics, Family Practice and ENT Drs., custom wedding gown designer/seamstress
Catch us up on your life . . . : I met and married Steve Hawkes, from Honeyville, Ut. after attending USU for two years, had two georgeous daughters, Stephanie and Mandie, and lived seveal places, including Anchorage Alaska for four years. We settled in Layton, Ut, where we have remained for the bulk of our 37 years together. We have 7 absolutely beautiful grandchildren, Dakota, Jayden, Whitt, Jace,twins- Brylee & Bodree and Hailie. 5 Boys after having only daughters wears me out, and the twins are a pair of energizer bunnies. They're envolved in everything, therefore I am too. Sports, hunting, fishing, rodeo and fun. Being empty nesters has allowed Steve and I time to travel a little, we've traded our huge garden for a swimming pool our "little oasis". It's much easier to take care of, although we did keep a little room to still garden. Our barn is now empty as well. It seems most of the animals left when the girls did, especially the horses, goats, and cattle. However, with one son-in-law a Vet, and the other a cattleman, and both being in rodeo, we seem to not miss them.

We do still have Labs,a 15 yr old chocolate, the other a year old black. I've been toying with an idea to breed Cinder, to a Standard Poodle, I understand the breed makes great bird dogs. I'm not sure if I have the energy though. While Steve has been in construction, now VP of Operations for Burton Lumber, (yes that's our Senior Pres.'s family buisness); I have done numerous jobs. My favorite was working from home and designing and making wedding gowns, which I have done off and on since High school, and around all my other jobs.
Things I have learned since 1968 . . .: "When things get you down, just keep one foot in front of the other, it will lead you somewhere." and "Enjoy each and every moment of your life, you don't ever get it back".

Catch us up on your life . . . : Unfortunately was not able to spend my senior year at Skyline because my family moved to California after our junior year. Was in high school there only five months when we moved to South Africa because of my father's job. Graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Then went to Columbia Law School and afterward clerked for a federal judge in New Orleans. Since then have worked as a lawyer in Los Angeles.

Married to my law school classmate and best friend: Margaret Nagle (a federal Magistrate Judge). Have two kids (boy and girl) both at Claremont McKenna College (junior and freshman) and a great dog.
Things I have learned since 1968 . . .: Not enough and there has been plenty of time. Very sorry I wouldn't be able to attend the reunion because I just learned about it. Hope you all have a great time. Looked through our junior year yearbook. It brought back many wonderful memories.

Comment:
As most of you who remember me will recall, I didn’t exactly graduate from Skyline High School. After two years at Wasatch Junior High, I was a member of the first Freshman Class to ever attend Skyline (1964-65). After three fantastic years as an Eagle, my family moved to California in 1967, so I missed out on my senior year here. Still, I’ll never forget when we won Skyline’s first State Championship in a major sport (Track & Field, 1967), and rejoiced again when the Seniors won State in football in 1968!

Since college, I have worked in the Southern California aerospace industry – Hughes Helicopters, Hughes Aircraft Company, and Raytheon. Not only did my work provide me with great benefits and finances for my other reckless pursuits, it also afforded me the opportunity to travel. I lived for a couple of years in Penang, Malaysia, a couple more on the Keflavik Naval Air Station, Iceland, and spent several months working outside of Lisbon, Portugal. I took full advantage of these assignments, and saw as much of the outlying regions as possible. Travel – the more remote, the better – is still a high priority on my list, even though I'm retired now and have to pay for it myself!

My wife Neva and I have been married for 30 years, and she has been my best friend since the day I met her. I have a daughter Cindy by a prior marriage, and I have a couple of granddaughters.

I have always had a passion for running. I’ll never forget the night I received my Letter for Cross Country at the Skyline Lettermen’s Club. Since then, I’ve racked up some pretty good numbers. In addition to a ton of shorter races, I just completed my 102nd  marathon. Cool marathons I’ve completed include Easter Island, the Great Wall (China), Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), White Nights (St. Petersburg, Russia), Reykjavik and Lake Myvatn (Iceland), Kuala Lumpur and Penang (Malaysia), Einstein (Germany), Paris, Prague, and Lisbon. I have run all 33 Los Angeles Marathons, dating back to 1986, and have run Boston as a time-qualified runner three times. (Neva politely points out that she has five Boston Finisher’s medals!) I’ve run marathons on all seven continents, and have run all six "Marathon Majors" (London, Berlin, Tokyo, Chicago, Boston, and New York).  Just so you don’t think I’ve lost the “wild and crazy” side most of you remember, we’re also life-long members of the Hash House Harriers, an international running organization whose motto is “We’re a beer drinking club with a running problem!”

I owe several Skyline teachers a huge “thank you” for providing positive direction for some of my pursuits, which directly influenced the course of my entire life. Thanks to Mr. Bird for teaching me how to read music and perform in cooperation with other musicians to create such beauty in that media. Thanks to Mrs. Johnson (English), who challenged me to sharpen my writing skills and critical thinking; today I hold degrees in English Literature (UCLA) and Secondary English Education (U. of Wyoming). A very special thanks to Coach Hathaway, for channelling my love of running into a disciplined and competitive avocation. I never lost that thrill and now have literally run all over the world. Our home is adorned with a host of running awards (mostly Neva’s) and memorabilia. I met Neva because of our shared passion for running, and we even had our wedding ceremony at the end of a run! Thanks, Coach!

Finally, a big global “thanks” to the entire staff at Skyline – we all owe so much for your putting up with us little angels over those years, and giving us a quality education in spite of everything! I hope that you can now look at the results of your efforts, smile, and consider it to be a “job well done.”
